Besides overall emphasis on the value of families, the LDS Church created a program called Family Home Evening.  One night a week a family pays special attention to being together.  If you would like more information about starting Family Home Evening in YOUR home check out the official site of the Mormon church.  Also, I would really suggest getting in touch with missionaries in your area.  They can teach you about FHE
More fun stuff for kids is on the way!!
and provide you with free resources.    So what IS Family Home Evening?  You might play games, learn a lesson about values you have in your family like honesty or accepting people or sharing or whatever, sing songs, watch a movie, just talk, have a treat or whatever.  Click here for some fun things to do with kids.
Family Search is my favorite geneology site!  (It was also voted one of the Best Sites of the Year by Access Magazine.) Here you can search for your ancestors in one of the worlds largest genological records bank in the world.  It is also easy to get the hang of and has resources you can download as well.

Ancestry.com is also a good one.  It has many names and helpful links.  A bit too commercial, but other than that very helpful!
What was your great great great great great grandmother's name?  Are you and your best friend distantly related?  What country did your ancestors come from?  What does your surname mean?  Are you royalty?  What did your great great
grandfather die of?  Where was your great aunt married?  Do you have the same name as any ancestors?  YOU DON'T KNOW?!  Maybe it is time to find some of things out!  All of that is part of family history!
So, what views about families does the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints hold?  Here is a proclaimation made by the church that has since been presented to the United Nations and various other organization as well as world leaders . . .
